up in the air.

that's right. gabe is learning to fly.
i am very familiar with airplanes, airports, and having a family member as a pilot... my dad. but never did i think that i would one day be married to a pilot. but as usual, life is full of surprises, and hopefully by may, gabe will be finished with his flying lessons, take his FAA flying test, and have his VFR pilots license!
here are some shots from his very 1st lesson!

soon enough, he will be scratching this off his bucket list!

southern comfort.

home. sweet. home.
our week at home was full.

if you know my family at all, you will know that that we are obsessed with ice-cream. but not just any kind of ice-cream. it MUST be breyers ice-cream. and boy do we eat a lot of it. in fact, as soon as we got in town (1:30 am) we opened freezer and pulled it out. we have no shame.

our time at home is not only full of sweets, but plenty of time on the couch. gabe calls it, "couching it" and he certainly did just that when he wasn't working - or eating ice-cream.

you can't talk about home or lookout mountain without talking about its beauty. the views are amazing. so blessed to have grown up in such a beautiful place. it really is a daily reminder of how amazing the Lord really is.

you generally don't go home for vacation, but you know its vacation when you wake up in the morning, and your only plan is this:

we got to have a romantic night @ st.john's meeting place. perhaps my favorite restaurant ever. i love going for appetizers, glass of wine, and a wonderful dessert. this time, however, we went all out, a candle light dinner, and ate until we couldn't eat anymore- all over a glass of wine...or two..

& we managed to sneak in a few trips to the best burrito joint there is. mojo burrito.
oh.my.goodness.YUM.
sometimes i have cravings for this fresh, mexican food.
only in chattanooga...

the good places to eat, the beautiful views... its nothing if you can't kick your feet up and enjoy family.

home. sweet. home.

be mine.

some people write this day off as a hallmark holiday, and others make it an excuse for eating lots of chocolate and getting to spend extra time with their loved one. whichever view you hold, valentines to me, since being married, is a day that i reflect upon the love in my life. - the ones that i love, and the ones that love me.
especially now that i am married, and blessed with the unconditional love of a life long partner, valentines day makes me think of our relationship, and the blessing that it is to me.
so, husband, remember always that:

i remember so clearly the first time that gabe & i ever hung out together, in high school. wow.
we started off friends, and that friendship grew, but took many years to completely come to fruition. it is true that God works in mysterious ways, and in HIS timing.

then a year after college, gabe and i reconnected and really started to like each other... i remember being so happy i could barely contain myself. i felt like he was literally my other half. and then, when i least expected it, he got down on one knee, and asked me... and i said YES.

thank you Lord for your perfect timing.
thank you Lord for always giving us what is in your will.
thank you Lord for blessing me.

this quote says so eloquently everything i feel:

happy valentines day, husband!

.... and we all know how much i love cupcakes!

happy valentines day cannon. we hope that you like your red & pink sock monkey!

making a home.

one thing that i've always thought i would be good at is making a house, a home. i've always thought i had an eye for how things should be decorated or arranged - which colors should go where. i thought i knew how to do it all. however, i have quickly learned that about once a month, my mind changes on what i like in the house, and that i definitely dont have any idea how to decorate a house or make it look like & feel like a home.
its a constant battle. im always moving something here, and moving something there. i've just now gotten around to hanging things on the living room wall in our apartment, and i pulled out the "spring pillows". its a nice new feeling. but, im still looking to make it feel more like a home. how do so many people do it so well?
so, here is our living room for this month:

snuggle time.

i work as a nanny for a new born for two doctors. so, i have unusual hours due to their call schedules, and long hospital days. so, i usually wake up around 6 o'clock in the morning and am at work by six thirty or seven. i am away from my husband and dog all day long, and sometimes it is hard, working ten, eleven or twelve hours.
snuggle time is important in the mornings before i leave for work. its just me and the c-dog, and we love to sit on the couch for a few and snuggle, snuggle. its nice to have time to snuggle and just be before i have to leave for a crazy day of babysitting dogs & a newborn.

fifty nifty.

are you planning a wedding? looking for a photographer?
i have some friends from wheaton who are married and work as photographers. they are simply amazing, and if i was getting married again, i'd have them be mine! they do marvelous work- and they are really cool people.
their plan for 2012 is to do fifty weddings, in fifty weeks, in fifty different states.
they are going to give $1000 per wedding to "she dances" which is a anti human trafficking program.
that is a big plan if you ask me! so i am trying to spread the word to all those who are wedding planning!

if you click on the link above, you can watch the video that they have made for this mission.
or
you can click on the link below and look @ their fabulous website and all their previous work!

show support & book your wedding with them! - amazing photos & amazing mission!

ski.west.va.

it was my first time to ever put skis on. and let me tell you, it was terrifying. it was so hard to stop! i felt like i was uncontrollably flying down the mountain, and the only way i could stop myself was to throw myself to the ground... over and over again. i was so scared.

don't even get me started on the ski lifts. and i don't like heights to begin with! we were just dangling from a tiny little wire with nothing keeping us in the seats.

oh.my.goodness.

and then they just dump you off onto the top of an icy mountain without even slowing down so you can just uncontrollably fall down the mountain again. its simply a terrifying experience.

thank goodness for my sweet husband, who tried to teach me to go slow, and look more natural.- unfortunately, for me, nothing seemed natural about it. but, i am oddly hooked to the experience, and want so badly to conquer this fear, and be able to ski green runs fearlessly.

so, snowshoe mountain ski resort, we will be back... be ready.

a man's best friend.

cannon.
best friend & companion.
whoever was the first to say that dogs are a man's best friend, was one smart cookie. it is so true. dogs have this selfless, giving, always loving personality. it doesn't matter what you do, dogs always love you.
we absolutely love our dog cannon. he is our kid- for now, and we treat him as just that.
he has just the cutest little personality ever, and i love him so much! he's two and a half now, so i thought i'd post some photos to celebrate him!

oh he was just the cutest little puppy ever- and those eyes, oh.my.goodness. so stinking cute.... but he was a little handful.
now, he's grown up to be the coolest dog ever, all he wants in the world is to be close to me and gabe, and just chill with us.
